Joy Rivard

Founder & Director
Homeschool Enrichment Team

Joy graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in 2006, earning a Bachelor's Degree in K-8 Education.  Shortly after graduation, Joy began her teaching experience in her hometown elementary school.  Once her son was born in 2014, Joy became a stay-at-home mom who found other teaching avenues as a homeschooling mom and an outdoor educator.

Joy is certified through the Eastern Region Association of Forest and Nature Schools (ERAFANS) as a nature-based early childhood educator.  In her free time, you can find Joy hiking in the hills with her family, getting her hands dirty on her homestead, or baking cookies.

Grace Brewer

K-2nd Lead

Grace has her Masters in Teaching and her Bachelors of Social Work. Grace has worked in schools as a second grade teacher and a paraeducator.  

Grace has experience in the role of a health care transition coordinator.  Rain or shine, you can find Grace exploring the outdoors, riding bikes, or chasing chickens with her family and dogs.

Grace is certified through the Eastern Region Association of Forest and Nature Schools (ERAFANS) as a nature-based early childhood educator.

Darrien Gillespie

Preaschool Lead

Darrien holds her Bachelors of Arts in Elementary and Early Childhood Education.  Darrien has worked as a English Language Arts 5th grade teacher as well as a Kindergarten Teacher.

Darrien grew up in the Naches area and has always been passionate about the outdoors.  She is a mom of energetic boys and loves to adventure and explore the outdoors with her family.  You can find her camping, hiking and exploring the mountains, getting her hands dirty in the garden, or riding dirtbikes.

Samantha Calforbe

Preaschool Team

Samantha has a Bachelors in Arts in Elementary Education and has worked as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher.

Samantha grew up in Naches. She is the mom of three adventurous children that she loves sharing her passion for the outdoors with. You can find Samantha with her family working in her garden, feeding her chickens treats, exploring in the mountains, or kayaking.

Rebekah Boyd

K-2 Co-lead

Rebekah has a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education and Vocal Music. Rebekah has served in both teacher and director positions with private schools, childcares, and parent cooperatives since 2005.  She has been homeschooling her four children since 2014 and enjoys the freedom and challenges that homeschooling multiple ages brings.

Rebekah has always loved being outdoors and finding the beauty of nature in the smallest detail. She has a love for animals of all kinds and can often be found at her homestead doctoring or snuggling one of them. She especially enjoys gardening and preparing family meals from scratch. You can find her humming or singing, enjoying the sunrise as she tends to the garden and animals in the morning, playing outside with her children, or exploring the beautiful mountains and countryside all around.
